End of Americas tour update from Steven Wilson

21st March 2016

The tour of the Americas comes to a close this week, with two final shows in Brazil and Argentina.

This leg has had highs and lows for me. The shows themselves have been wonderful, plus being able to renew my friendships with musician buddies such as Alex Lifeson of Rush and Will Brooks from Dälek was a treat, but on the down side illness caused me to gradually lose my voice, such that by the time we got to the Beacon Theater in New York I was virtually unable to talk let alone sing. Ninet stepping in to learn several more songs at one hour’s notice, and a valiant effort by the band saved the day and allowed the show to go on, but alas I was left with no choice but to cancel the first of the 2 subsequent Chicago dates to give myself to recover, the first time in my career I have ever had to do this. But it did the job, and by the time of the second Chicago show I was back! Since then we’ve had 3 unforgettable shows in Mexico City and Santiago, and here you can find some fantastic photos from these concerts taken by Camila Jurado and Simon Lowery.

After the shows in Sao Paolo and Buenos Aires, it’s back home for a few weeks rest, and then myself and the band return to the road in April for a run of 13 dates, visiting Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Israel. As always I hope to see you some of you there!
