Listen to Steven Wilson’s ‘Picks of 2017’ playlist

4th December 2017

These days it’s virtually impossible to keep up with the avalanche of new and old albums being released / reissued, but nevertheless I did still buy a lot of music in 2017 (yes I’m one of the old school types that likes a physical CD or vinyl record), and there was some fantastic stuff. My favourite new albums this year were by The War On Drugs, Max Richter and Cigarettes After Sex, and as reissues go it’s hard to beat the box set of David Bowie’s imperial late 70’s era, Neil Young’s Hitchhiker, or the deluxe multi-disc editions of Prince’s Purple Rain and Underworld’s Beaucoup Fish. Anyway, rather than just list them all I’ve decided to create a Spotify playlist, which you can check out below along with The Guardian’s 100 best songs of the year, in which they have included my song Permanating:

Dunkirk and Get Out were my favourite movies of the year, with the Blade Runner sequel perhaps my biggest disappointment (not that it was bad exactly, but…)
