In 2002, representatives from Babicz Guitars brought several of their instruments for Steven to try out prior to a Porcupine Tree show in Asbury Park. At the time, Steven had been struggling to find a guitar up to the task of reproducing the acoustic sounds on Porcupine Tree albums in a live context, but when he began trying out the Babicz guitars he was converted.
After many years of playing these guitars—which have a distinctive look because of the way that the strings fan out on the soundboard —Steven collaborated with Jeff Babicz to create a signature model. The Steven Wilson Signature model guitar is now available on a “First Come-First Serve” basis from Babicz Guitars.
There will be a limited quantity available to ship from Babicz’s New York facility, as well as from their UK Distributor “House Music” in London.
“I’ve been playing these distinctive guitars on stage for the last 10 years, but this is the first time I have actually collaborated with Jeff Babicz on my own signature model, and it’s a beautiful thing!” ~ Steven Wilson
