UK magazine Record Collector award the album 5/5 and describe it as having “spellbinding poignancy and aching beauty”.
John Kelman at US website All About Jazz also awards the album the maximum 5/5 noting “It would have been easy for Wilson to take the easy route and pump out a Raven, Part II, but instead he has taken an almost complete 180 degree flip with Hand. Elsewhere Belgian’s main newspaper De Morgen proclaim the album is ‘… a fascinating musical journey…’ 4/5, and US website The Musical Melting Pot award the album a 97% rating, describing it as “Box-negating, limit-ignoring, and utterly fantastic.”.
