Happy New Year to everyone, and the very best of wishes for 2015! For me this year is going to be all about the Hand. Cannot. Erase. album released a few weeks from now, and the touring that will begin in March and most likely continue until the end of the year. There will also be some record store signings in the week of release in Germany and the UK, details soon. Right now myself and my very talented musical and visual collaborators are planning the live show. The focus will be on the new album of course, but I will also play some older songs which I’ve not performed as a solo artist before, things that seem to fit well with the theme of the new album.
For those who enjoy my classic album remix work, while I won’t be doing much of it in 2015, there are several projects I completed over the last year or so that are still in the release pipeline, including albums by Roxy Music, XTC, King Crimson, Simple Minds, Jethro Tull, Steve Hackett, and Yes. Just don’t refer to them as “remasters” please! (that’s something completely different to remixing, which is a much more in depth process).
Finally, I realise I did not get around to compiling my customary highlights of the year list, so my apologies to those who were waiting for it. I will at least say that Jonathan Glazer’s sci-fi film “Under the Skin”, starring Scarlett Johansson, was top of my list for 2014. While certainly not for everyone (it received almost exclusively 5 star or 1 star reviews with not much in between), if you are a fan of film-makers like Nicolas Roeg, David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick, then I cannot recommend it highly enough. The word masterpiece may be overused these days, but to me this film really is, and the soundtrack by Mica Levi is also brilliant.
I hope you enjoy Hand. Cannot. Erase. and I look forward to seeing many of you on my travels in 2015.
