Reviews for The Raven that Refused to Sing are starting to come in, with UK newspaper ‘The Guardian’ awarding the album the maximum 5 stars, proclaiming “this album shows Wilson to be one of modern rock’s most cunning and soulful protagonists.”

Other reviews include a 10/10 review in Finnish magazine Sue, with another Finnish magazine Rytmi awarding the album 5/5. Metal Hammer in Poland also gives the album a 5 star rating, while PowerMetal in Germany gives it 9.5/10.

Metal Hammer UK awarded the album 9/10, describing the record as “aptly, magic.”
